For those of you who know me, you know there is a large dose of humor and sarcasm sprinkled into my day to day life and how I look at parenting... it's kind of how I survive. If I can make a joke about the fact that the entire jar of salsa just ended up on the under side of my table and, incredibly, also the ceiling then I just might make it through the day.
I think in my more crazed moments I also engage in muttering... you know, as I'm walking to the sink with my hands full of diced tomatoes and dripping with tomatoe juice I'm muttering "fabulous, just fabulous". Because normally I try to save the sarcasm for my retelling of the day or my inside-my-head voice. Humorous sarcasm. My survival weapon of choice.
However, there might be something wrong when my 5 year old starts whipping the sarcasm out as well... should 5 year olds even GET sarcasm??? I guess I could choose to look at it as a sign of brilliance... anyways, she totally nailed it on the head this morning.
I'm in the shower and I can hear her and Jude going at it, so I send them both to their rooms till I can deal with them. Chloe stomps down the hall yelling 'Thanks a lot Jude!' and slams her door. The tirade continues "WOW! What a GREAT day! This is the BEST day EVER! Thanks Jude!". Well, it might not be your best day Chloe, but that certainly was a highlight of mine, haha :)
